By folding the San Diego operation into its existing infrastructure, Quasar plans to bridge the gap between early-stage innovation and high-volume manufacturing at its Tecate, Mexico plant, located just an hour away.

Quasar Medical Acquires San Diego Nitinol Design Center
Quasar Medical has acquired the Medres Nitinol Design and Development Center in San Diego, securing a 10,000-square-foot facility to bolster its specialized manufacturing for minimally invasive medical devices. The move integrates advanced material engineering into Quasar's global network, aiming to accelerate the path from device prototyping to commercial production.
Christine Trepanier, Quasar’s Senior Vice President of Technology, will oversee the integration of the site alongside the company’s development hubs in Israel and Galway. The acquisition also brings in industry veterans, including Tom Duerig, a pioneer in medical Nitinol applications. For Medres International, the sale allows the company to refocus its resources on its Hungarian headquarters, while Quasar gains the capacity to scale complex, high-performance implantables and disposables for its global client base.
