Godfrey, who built his audience through the Stromedy channel, co-directed the project with digital creator Jake Dufner. Filmed over four days in Toronto, the short follows a group of friends trapped in a lethal game orchestrated by a clown named Simon. By casting a familiar character in a standalone cinematic format, Godfrey aims to prove that digital-native intellectual property can effectively bridge the gap to traditional horror film markets.

YouTube Creator Kyle Godfrey Secures Seven-Figure Backing for Film
A seven-figure investment from Everbloom is fueling Kyle Godfrey’s transition from YouTube star to independent filmmaker. The capital injection coincides with the release of Simon Says, a psychological horror short starring a signature antagonist from Godfrey’s 14-million-subscriber Stromedy channel, now available on both YouTube and Tubi.

Beyond direct funding, Everbloom will join the executive team at Prime Capitol Entertainment to provide strategic oversight. Brendan Alper, co-founder and chief operating officer at Everbloom, identified the project as a proof of concept for a broader slate of film and television ventures. The firm, which has deployed over $35 million across the creator economy, views the move as an attempt to transform independent digital brands into enduring media franchises.
