Windings Inc. Acquires Machine Tool Engineering to Secure Supply Chain

Windings, an employee-owned firm with six decades of experience in electromagnetic motor solutions, pursued this acquisition to consolidate its manufacturing pipeline. By absorbing MTE’s expertise in CNC turning, milling, and grinding, the company gains direct control over critical components that previously relied on external vendors. This insourcing strategy allows Windings to move from prototype design to full-scale production under a single roof, ensuring tighter quality oversight for mission-critical industrial applications.

Heather Braimbridge-Cox, CEO of Windings, described the merger as a milestone for the company’s 2030 vision. She noted that the integration of MTE’s facilities directly addresses supply chain dependencies that have complicated global manufacturing in recent years. Sarah George, President of MTE, emphasized that the two companies share a commitment to precision engineering, citing the alignment of their organizational cultures as a primary driver for the deal. MTE, which has held ISO 9001 and AS9100 certifications since its founding in 1976, will now bolster Windings’ capacity to serve the energy, mobility, and defense markets.
