Plano-based micromobility giant Segway has opened pre-orders for the MAX G3 Plus, an upgraded iteration of its flagship electric scooter. The new model, available for a discounted $1,149.99 through August, introduces a significantly larger battery and a revised range-testing standard designed to offer riders more realistic performance expectations.
In a shift toward greater consumer transparency, Segway is debuting a new range-testing protocol with this release. Unlike previous standards that measured distance until total battery depletion, the new method records range at the point where speed drops to 60% of a mode's maximum, providing a more accurate reflection of usable daily performance. According to Tom Hebert, VP of Sales, these adjustments were driven directly by user feedback to improve the reliability of the commuter experience.
