Segway Launches MAX G3 Plus Scooter With Extended Range and New Tech

Plano-based micromobility giant Segway has opened pre-orders for the MAX G3 Plus, an upgraded iteration of its flagship electric scooter. The new model, available for a discounted $1,149.99 through August, introduces a significantly larger battery and a revised range-testing standard designed to offer riders more realistic performance expectations.

Segway Launches MAX G3 Plus Scooter With Extended Range and New Tech

The MAX G3 Plus arrives with a 717-Wh battery, marking a 20% capacity increase over the original platform. This power boost enables a range of up to 56 miles and 2,200 watts of peak output. Beyond raw power, Segway has integrated an Intelligent Riding Assist system that utilizes gyroscopic data to adjust throttle sensitivity on uneven terrain and provide stability on inclines. Safety enhancements include larger 140-millimeter brake rotors, dedicated rear turn signals, and an Intelligent Combined Braking System that synchronizes mechanical disc brakes with regenerative stopping power.

In a shift toward greater consumer transparency, Segway is debuting a new range-testing protocol with this release. Unlike previous standards that measured distance until total battery depletion, the new method records range at the point where speed drops to 60% of a mode's maximum, providing a more accurate reflection of usable daily performance. According to Tom Hebert, VP of Sales, these adjustments were driven directly by user feedback to improve the reliability of the commuter experience. The scooter features a full-color TFT display, Apple Find My compatibility, and self-sealing 11-inch tires. Units are scheduled to begin shipping on August 25, with availability expanding from Segway's online store to major retailers like Best Buy and Amazon.
