The ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee sent letters to the leaders of Bank of America, Bank of New York Mellon, Deutsche Bank, and JPMorgan Chase, questioning how these institutions enabled years of financial activity linked to Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell. Raskin asserts that internal bank compliance functions frequently ignored clear red flags, including massive cash withdrawals and requests for accounts tied to underage victims.
Specific allegations in the correspondence highlight that JPMorgan Chase processed over $1 billion for Epstein, including transactions occurring after his 2008 conviction, without filing mandatory suspicious activity reports for years. Similarly, Raskin accused Deutsche Bank of prioritizing the profitability of the relationship despite public knowledge of Epstein's criminal status. The banks are expected to respond with requested documentation by October 22.
