Emerson Elevates Rudy Sengupta to Chief Technology and AI Officer

Rudy Sengupta will take the helm of Emerson’s technology and artificial intelligence strategy starting August 15, 2026. The appointment marks a leadership shift at the St. Louis-based industrial giant, as Sengupta steps into the role currently held by Peter Zornio, who is set to retire at the end of the year.

Emerson Elevates Rudy Sengupta to Chief Technology and AI Officer

Sengupta currently serves as Vice President and General Manager of Test and Analytics Software within Emerson’s Test & Measurement segment. He joined the company following the acquisition of NI and has since focused on integrating AI-driven capabilities and software-defined test automation into the firm’s portfolio. In his new capacity as Senior Vice President, he will join the Office of the Chief Executive to steer the company’s enterprise-wide AI agenda and oversee the development of its technology stack, including the Enterprise Operations Platform.

CEO Lal Karsanbhai credited Sengupta’s work in the Test & Measurement business for his promotion, noting that his experience will be critical in accelerating innovation across Emerson’s automation offerings. Peter Zornio, a veteran of two decades at the company, will remain through the end of December to facilitate a transition period. The change aligns with Emerson's broader strategic pivot toward scaling autonomous operations for global industrial clients.
