Hinkle Outdoor Living Debuts Engineered Design Initiative in Kansas City

A backyard is more than a patch of grass; it is a structural challenge that demands the same rigor as an interior renovation. Riverside-based Hinkle Outdoor Living is launching a new "Engineered for Entertaining" initiative, shifting the focus of Kansas City residential projects from simple landscaping to complex, permanent outdoor environments.

Since 2007, the design-build firm has moved away from surface-level aesthetics, prioritizing the underlying systems—drainage, grading, and structural planning—that dictate a project's longevity. Founder Zach Hinkle argues that a cohesive outdoor room begins with a clear understanding of the homeowner's lifestyle, ensuring that every transition and material choice serves a specific purpose in hosting and social connection.

The initiative standardizes the company’s approach to custom decks, gunite pools, and outdoor kitchens. By integrating design and construction into a single, documented path, the firm aims to remove the uncertainty often associated with large-scale property transformations. Homeowners across Johnson, Platte, Clay, and Jackson counties now have access to this structured process, which relies on 3D renderings and precision craftsmanship to align backyard utility with residential architecture.
