Coinbase Halts Trading for Five Tokens

Coinbase has officially deactivated trading for IDEX, LRC, OMNI, PIRATE, and FIS across its retail, advanced, and institutional platforms. The exchange, which provided a one-month warning to users, confirmed that while market access has ceased, customers retain full custody of their assets for external withdrawal.

The suspension, effective since August 7, impacts users across Coinbase Simple, Advanced Trade, Exchange, and Prime services. Unlike previous delistings where the exchange automatically converted balances into stablecoins, Coinbase has not announced a liquidation plan for these tokens. Holders can continue to move their funds to compatible external wallets, though the exchange has provided no indication that trading support will return for these specific assets.

Coinbase maintains that it performs routine reviews to ensure listed assets meet its internal standards. However, the exchange declined to specify why these particular tokens failed their most recent assessment. The removals differ from a separate August 6 action, where the company discontinued six specific trading pairs—such as CRO-USDT and MINA-EUR—while continuing to support those underlying assets in other markets. For IDEX, LRC, OMNI, PIRATE, and FIS, the restriction is total, effectively stripping them from the platform's active ecosystem.
