BlackRock Canada debuts equity fund with 3% Bitcoin allocation

Canadian investors now have access to a single-ticker product that blends global stock market exposure with a small, strategic stake in Bitcoin. Trading under the ticker IBQT, the new iShares Equity + Bitcoin ETF Portfolio allows for diversified holdings without requiring direct cryptocurrency ownership or individual asset management.

BlackRock Canada debuts equity fund with 3% Bitcoin allocation

The fund, which began trading on the Toronto Stock Exchange on August 10, targets a fixed allocation of 97% equities and 3% Bitcoin. Rather than purchasing individual stocks or crypto assets, the portfolio operates as a fund of funds, primarily holding various iShares ETFs to achieve its target weighting. Its Bitcoin exposure is funneled through BlackRock’s Canadian iShares Bitcoin ETF, while the equity portion spans Canadian, U.S., and emerging market indices. Investors pay an annual management fee of 0.22% for the packaged product.

Alongside this launch, BlackRock introduced the iShares Core MSCI All-International Equity Index ETF, ticker XINT. This fund tracks the MSCI ACWI ex North America IMI Index, covering more than 5,000 companies across 40 markets. With a management fee of 0.23%, XINT is designed to complement existing North American equity holdings. Both products are managed under the RBC iShares alliance. While BlackRock’s U.S.-listed spot Bitcoin ETFs continue to see significant demand—attracting roughly $693 million in a single week—the Canadian IBQT represents a shift toward incorporating crypto into traditional, conservative portfolio strategies.
