A consortium led by EDF power solutions, Al Khadra Partners, and OQ Alternative Energy has finalized financing for the 120-megawatt Jaalan Bani Bu Ali Wind Independent Power Project. Located in the South Al Sharqiyah Governorate, the facility represents a key step in Oman’s shift toward a diversified, low-carbon energy grid.

The project operates under a 20-year Power Purchase Agreement with Nama Power and Water Procurement Company. Construction in the South Al Sharqiyah region will involve the installation of 16 wind turbines, each boasting a 7.7 MW capacity. Commercial operations are scheduled to commence in the third quarter of 2027, eventually supplying electricity to more than 13,500 Omani households.

Beyond immediate power generation, the wind farm is expected to offset over 270,000 tonnes of carbon emissions annually. This initiative aligns directly with Oman Vision 2040, which targets a 30% renewable energy share in the national mix by 2030. The consortium partners emphasized that the project serves as a cornerstone for local economic development, focusing on job creation and the strengthening of Omani supply chains as the Sultanate pursues its Net Zero 2050 ambitions.
