Doris Meister Takes Helm at Fiduciary Trust Company

After twelve years of leadership, Austin Shapard is stepping down as President and CEO of the Boston-based wealth management firm Fiduciary Trust Company. Doris Meister, who previously served as the firm’s Executive Chair, will assume the role immediately, marking the next stage in the organization’s 140-year history.

Meister brings over 35 years of financial industry experience to the position, including a prior tenure as Chair and CEO of Wilmington Trust. During her time as Executive Chair at Fiduciary, she focused on integrating the firm’s long-standing culture of personalized wealth management with modern client service demands. She plans to prioritize investments in technology and internal talent to maintain the firm’s competitive position in the private wealth sector.

Shapard will remain with the company through the end of 2026 in an advisory capacity to ensure a smooth transition of responsibilities. Fiduciary Trust Company, which traces its origins to 1885, maintains a 98% average annual client retention rate by focusing on families, nonprofits, and single-family offices. The firm continues to offer specialized services ranging from estate planning to tax management, leveraging its independent structure to provide objective financial guidance.
