Jennifer Briggs Named Executive Director of ACTEC

After a seventeen-year tenure defined by steady growth and professional standards, Deborah O. McKinnon is stepping down as the executive leader of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel. The organization has tapped Jennifer Briggs, a veteran association executive, to steer its next chapter beginning September 9, 2026.

Jennifer Briggs Named Executive Director of ACTEC

Briggs joins the Washington-based association from the Texas Society of Architects, where she has served as executive vice president and CEO since 2021. During her time in Texas, she managed an eight-thousand-member organization and a $6 million budget, focusing on financial stability and member engagement. Her background includes a two-decade tenure at the Indiana CPA Society, where she eventually rose to the role of president and CEO.

ACTEC President Margaret G. Lodise lauded the selection, citing Briggs’s extensive experience in guiding complex professional bodies. McKinnon will remain on board as Executive Director Emeritus through October to facilitate a smooth handover. Founded in 1949, the college represents approximately 2,300 peer-elected lawyers and law professors dedicated to reforming and improving probate, trust, and tax laws.
