The integration allows Solana applications to facilitate cash withdrawals in over 170 countries and cash deposits in more than 25. Rift, a Solana-based wallet, has already adopted the service, marking the first real-world implementation of this infrastructure. By embedding MoneyGram’s API directly into the Solana Developer Platform, the company aims to link onchain activity with its physical footprint of nearly 500,000 retail locations worldwide. MoneyGram manages the identity verification, regulatory compliance, and stablecoin settlement, shielding developers from the administrative burden of maintaining separate financial licenses.

MoneyGram Connects Solana to Global Cash Network
Solana users can now convert digital assets into physical currency across 170 countries, following MoneyGram’s integration of its Ramps service into the blockchain’s developer platform. This move grants wallet providers and developers immediate access to a vast retail network, bypassing the need for complex, individual banking partnerships.

While the reach is global, access within the United States remains fragmented. Although MoneyGram is registered as a money services business with FinCEN, the new Ramps product is currently unavailable to users in Alaska, Louisiana, Hawaii, and New York. Additionally, the service is limited to USDC transactions, distinct from MoneyGram’s MGUSD stablecoin, which continues to operate primarily on the Stellar network. CEO Anthony Soohoo framed the expansion as a key milestone in creating an open payments network, though the company has yet to confirm a timeline for further wallet integrations or the launch of promised features like mobile wallet and bank account funding.
