Binance Places GLMR, ICX, MOVR, RARE and SOPH Under Monitoring

Five digital assets face heightened scrutiny after Binance added them to its Monitoring Tag list on August 11. The exchange signaled that Moonbeam, ICON, Moonriver, SuperRare and Sophon now represent increased volatility risks, leaving them vulnerable to potential delisting if they fail to meet ongoing compliance and performance standards.

The designation requires users to pass a periodic quiz to trade these tokens, which now feature risk warning banners on the exchange’s Spot and Margin pages. While the move sparked immediate market volatility—with Moonriver shedding over 20% and Moonbeam dropping 13% within 24 hours—Binance clarified that trading services remain fully operational for all five assets. The exchange provided no specific rationale for individual tokens, maintaining that the review process evaluates factors ranging from development activity and liquidity to team commitment and network security.

Recent shifts in the underlying projects provide potential context for the review. Both Moonbeam and Moonriver recently initiated migrations to the Base network, while the ICON Foundation has scheduled a permanent network shutdown for December 31, 2026. Despite these developments, Binance did not explicitly link the tag to any single project update. Because the exchange does not disclose specific numerical thresholds for its listing criteria, the Monitoring Tag serves as a discretionary warning rather than a guaranteed precursor to removal. Similar warnings issued to other tokens, such as ACX, have previously preceded delisting, but the exchange has yet to set a timeline for a final decision on these latest additions.
