Defense Metals Advances Wicheeda Rare Earth Project with Federal Proposal
Natural Resources Canada has invited Defense Metals Corp. to submit a full project proposal for its Wicheeda rare earth processing program. This invitation follows a successful initial assessment of the company’s request for up to C$32 million in federal support to scale up concentrator and hydrometallurgical operations in British Columbia.
Defense Metals President and CEO Mark Tory noted that the assessment validates the potential for government support, contingent upon the eventual execution of a contribution agreement. The Wicheeda deposit, located near Prince George, remains one of the most advanced undeveloped rare earth projects in North America. The company is currently building upon its 2025 Pre-Feasibility Study as it works toward formal feasibility, permitting, and eventual production to supply high-technology and clean energy sectors.
