The acquisition of Z15 Pro machines, facilitated through an asset purchase agreement with Moria Mining LLC and Winklevoss Treasury Investments, marks a significant shift in Cypherpunk’s corporate strategy. By integrating this hardware across U.S.-based facilities, the firm aims to bolster its ZEC treasury while lowering production costs below market spot prices. The company currently holds over 323,394 ZEC, and this expanded mining capacity is intended to accelerate its goal of controlling 5% of the total Zcash supply.

Cypherpunk Technologies Launches World's Largest Zcash Mining Fleet
Cypherpunk Technologies has secured its position as the dominant force in Zcash mining, launching a massive fleet following a $33.33 million equity deal with Winklevoss Capital. The new operation contributes 4.2 GSol/s to the network, accounting for roughly 18% of the total global hashrate as of August 2026.

To oversee this expansion, Cypherpunk has appointed Kevin Zhang as Head of Mining. Zhang, a veteran in the sector with experience dating back to early Bitcoin infrastructure development, views the current Zcash landscape as reminiscent of the 2016 Bitcoin mining boom. He notes that Zcash mining currently offers superior profitability compared to AI colocation and Bitcoin-focused operations. The move functions as a central pillar in Cypherpunk’s broader privacy-focused ecosystem, which includes the ZODL wallet and ongoing investments in privacy-preserving technology.
