Sionna Therapeutics Investors Face Losses After Trial Failure

A 92% collapse in Sionna Therapeutics share price followed the company’s announcement that its SION-719 cystic fibrosis drug failed to meet primary endpoints in a Phase 2a trial. The precipitous drop has triggered an investigation by Levi & Korsinsky into whether the company provided adequate disclosures to its shareholders.

Sionna Therapeutics Investors Face Losses After Trial Failure

The PreciSION CF trial results showed SION-719, when used alongside standard care, produced a placebo-adjusted sweat chloride change of only -1.0 mmol/L with a p-value of 0.7. Consequently, Sionna Therapeutics confirmed it will abandon the candidate as an add-on therapy. This failure strikes at the core of the firm’s pipeline, which relies heavily on its NBD1 stabilizer programs. In its 2025 Form 10-K, the company explicitly noted its substantial dependence on the success of these specific stabilizers.

Despite the market rout, Sionna reported a relatively stable balance sheet as of June 30, 2026, holding approximately $268.3 million in cash and marketable securities against a second-quarter net loss of $29.9 million. Legal counsel is now examining whether the company’s public communications sufficiently warned investors of the risks tied to the SION-719 program and the firm’s broader reliance on NBD1 technology. Investors who suffered financial losses are being prompted to review their brokerage records and evaluate potential recovery options.
