The proposed amendment, which replaces a previous version disabled due to a critical bug, introduces a model for limited account authority. By allowing an account owner to authorize a secondary account to perform specific transaction types—without granting full signing authority—the feature mimics role-based access systems standard in traditional finance. RippleX head of product Jazzi Cooper noted that such structures are a prerequisite for regulated institutions aiming to manage tokenized assets on public blockchains.

XRP Climbs 17% as Ledger Upgrade Gains Institutional Support
XRP surged to an intraday peak of $1.43, marking a 17% gain within 24 hours, as Ripple threw its weight behind the PermissionDelegationV1_1 amendment. This move pushes the proposed XRP Ledger upgrade further into the validator approval process, signaling a push toward more granular, institution-ready account controls.

For the amendment to activate, it must maintain support from over 80% of trusted validators for two consecutive weeks. Currently, seven of the 35 validators on the default Unique Node List have backed the proposal. While Ripple’s endorsement is a significant signal, the final activation date remains contingent on the broader network reaching the required supermajority. Parallel to the technical governance, market activity has intensified, with U.S. spot XRP ETFs recording $13.24 million in net daily inflows and total futures open interest swelling to $3.44 billion.
