The EHW aims to replace the traditional electronic health record (EHR) model, which founder Fern Cowan describes as a system built merely to remember. While legacy EHRs often lead to bloated, disconnected workflows, the EHW functions as a unified timeline where every action—from scheduling to clinical charting—generates a verified receipt. This architecture draws on principles from software engineering and finance, using version control and audit trails to ensure that every AI-generated entry remains traceable to its original source, such as a specific moment in a patient conversation.

By integrating directly with established systems like Epic and athenahealth, or operating independently, the platform seeks to consolidate fragmented tools into a single interface. Practices can now automate population health panels and patient outreach without purchasing expensive enterprise modules. According to Cowan, the goal is not to eliminate human oversight, but to provide structural supervision where clinicians approve AI actions before they become permanent. The platform is currently available for $129 per provider per month, aiming to reduce software overhead by replacing multiple specialized services with a single, ledger-based workforce.
