Mary Helen Schrag Named Pinnacle Professional of the Year

After more than three decades building rehabilitation infrastructure across the Ozarks, Mary Helen Schrag has been named a Pinnacle Professional of the Year by The Inner Circle. The distinction highlights her dual commitment to advancing orthopedic physical therapy and shaping Missouri’s public policy through extensive community leadership.

Mary Helen Schrag Named Pinnacle Professional of the Year

Schrag founded Physical Therapy Specialists at age 30, growing the organization into a regional healthcare fixture. Her clinical foundation began earlier, when she served as the Director of Physical Therapy at Ozarks Medical Center, where she architected the hospital's original rehabilitation departments. Her expertise spans orthopedic specialization and Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy, credentials she earned through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties and the McKenzie Institute USA.

Beyond the clinic, Schrag has maintained a footprint in state governance, having served as President of the Missouri State Board of Education. Her career includes advisory roles under seven different governors and board memberships ranging from the Missouri State University Board of Governors to the American Cancer Society. Her recent recognition follows a series of accolades, including the 2024 Make-A-Wish Foundation Philanthropist of the Year award and her 2023 inclusion in Ingram's list of 50 Missourians You Should Know. Schrag continues her work today as a member of the American Cancer Society’s national cabinet.
