Gentoo Media lowers full-year outlook despite record deposit volume

Gentoo Media reported a 9% decline in second-quarter revenue to 22.9 million euros, prompting the company to revise its full-year 2026 guidance downward. Despite the revenue shortfall, the Malta-based firm achieved record deposit levels of 207 million euros and improved its EBITDA margin to 39%.

The company’s quarterly performance reflects a strategic shift toward operational efficiency amid top-line pressure. While revenue missed initial expectations, EBITDA before special items rose to 8.9 million euros. CEO Jonas Warrer noted that the firm's lower cost base helped protect profitability, even as management works to convert high player activity into broader growth. Gentoo Media’s player intake reached 101,900 first-time depositors during the period, signaling sustained user engagement across its affiliate network, which includes brands like AskGamblers and Time2Play.

Financial discipline remains a central focus for the board, which is currently evaluating refinancing options, including new bond and private debt structures, to address its 112.2 million euro net debt position. Investors can expect an update on these capital strategies by October 1. The revised full-year outlook now targets revenue between 97 and 100 million euros, with EBITDA projected to land in the 44 to 47 million euro range.
