Following regulatory clearance earlier this summer, the merger received its final mandate during a special meeting held on August 25. Truliant President and CEO Todd Hall will lead the expanded organization, which plans to maintain a footprint of more than 40 locations across North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. During the transition, Piedmont Advantage will function as a division of Truliant, keeping current branches and digital services intact for its members until full system integration concludes in early 2027.

Piedmont Advantage Members Approve Merger with Truliant Federal
With 28,000 members backing the deal, Piedmont Advantage Credit Union will officially merge into Truliant Federal Credit Union on September 1, 2026. The move consolidates two long-standing North Carolina financial institutions into a single entity holding $6 billion in assets and serving a combined base of over 355,000 members.
For the leadership at Piedmont Advantage, the vote represents a strategic evolution of their 77-year history. Dion Williams, President and CEO of the credit union, noted that the partnership was built on shared values and a desire to bolster local community investment. Once the transition is complete, former Piedmont Advantage members will gain access to Truliant’s broader service portfolio and larger branch network, effectively scaling the reach of the credit union while preserving the member-focused model established by both organizations over the past seven decades.
