Onos Health Secures $17 Million to Scale Behavioral Health AI

San Francisco-based Onos Health has raised $17 million in a Series A funding round to expand its clinical intelligence platform. The investment, led by Costanoa with support from CVS Health Ventures and Flare Capital Partners, aims to automate the analysis of unstructured behavioral health data for major U.S. insurance providers.

Onos Health Secures $17 Million to Scale Behavioral Health AI

The startup addresses a critical gap in the healthcare sector, where over 23% of American adults face mental health conditions annually, driving more than $140 billion in direct medical costs. Traditional legacy systems struggle to process the unstructured clinical documentation that contains the vast majority of care quality signals. By integrating claims, utilization records, and clinical notes, the Onos platform seeks to replace reactive administrative oversight with proactive, data-driven care management.

Early deployments with national health plans, including Aetna, show measurable shifts in operational performance. According to company data, the platform has facilitated a 35% improvement in clinical standard adherence and a 75% increase in review efficiency. Furthermore, participating plans reported a reduction in behavioral health program costs exceeding 6% within the first year of implementation.

CEO Akshay Agarwal noted that the technology transforms previously opaque clinical pathways into measurable metrics. By identifying treatment gaps and patterns in real-time, the platform allows insurers to collaborate more effectively with provider networks. Investors highlight this capability as essential infrastructure for an industry that has historically struggled to correlate spending with actual care quality.
