The integration connects Taurus-CAPITAL and Taurus-PROTECT with Swift’s permissioned infrastructure, allowing for programmable wallet management and automated settlement. For banks lacking native blockchain capabilities, Taurus provides a managed Hyperledger Besu environment, while existing clients can extend their current production nodes to support the ledger. This setup allows financial institutions to bypass traditional business-hour constraints, enabling overnight and weekend transactions without replacing established real-time gross settlement systems.

Taurus links tokenization platforms to Swift’s shared ledger
Financial institutions can now leverage Taurus infrastructure to process cross-border payments via Swift’s blockchain-based ledger. By integrating its custody and tokenization systems with Swift’s smart contracts, Taurus enables banks to facilitate round-the-clock transfers using tokenized deposits while maintaining the underlying assets on their own balance sheets.

Swift’s ledger functions as an orchestration layer, coordinating the movement of tokenized deposits across participating banks. Unlike stablecoins, these instruments operate strictly within the commercial banking framework, ensuring deposits remain regulated and tied to the issuing bank's balance sheet. With the first live cross-border transactions already completed between Standard Chartered and HSBC, Taurus expects its initial client integrations to go live within days, with DLT-based payments following shortly thereafter. This move further expands the reach of Taurus, which already services major institutions including Deutsche Bank, State Street, and Santander.
