Former MAS official Ziqing Ang joins TRM Labs as APAC policy head
Blockchain intelligence firm TRM Labs has appointed Ziqing Ang, a veteran of the Monetary Authority of Singapore, as its new Head of Policy for the Asia-Pacific region. Ang will lead efforts to coordinate with regulators and law enforcement as the firm tracks a surge in crypto-related fraud and AI-driven scams.
Ang brings over a decade of experience across the public and private sectors to the role. Before joining TRM, she spent eight years at the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) and later held leadership positions at digital asset bank Sygnum and BPI Financial Group. Her appointment follows a trend of private firms hiring former regulators to navigate the evolving legal landscape in Asia.
Her arrival coincides with a significant shift in the regional threat profile. TRM data indicates that adjusted crypto crime volume has ballooned from roughly $123 million in 2020 to over $103 billion in 2025. Investment schemes, particularly pig-butchering operations, accounted for 62% of fraud inflows last year, while the integration of generative AI into criminal infrastructure has driven a 40% rise in automated scam activity.
TRM Labs has been aggressively expanding its regional compliance footprint, having recently hired former MAS official Claudia Hui as Head of Compliance Advisory. In her new capacity, Ang will focus on fostering partnerships between governments and the private sector to address illicit financial networks. She joins the firm at a time when Singapore and other regional hubs are intensifying oversight, evidenced by recent licensing revocations and the expansion of investor alert lists to combat unlicensed digital asset services.
