Entergy Data Center Deals Begin Lowering Monthly Utility Bills

The initiative aims to offset the rising costs of grid maintenance and infrastructure modernization by shifting the financial burden onto large-scale industrial users. Under the current contractual framework, data center operators are required to fund 100% of their connection costs while contributing additional tax revenue and community support funds. Entergy CEO Drew Marsh stated that these partnerships allow existing customers to avoid bearing the full weight of necessary system upgrades alone. Similar benefits are projected for Arkansas and Louisiana by early 2027 as additional facilities come online.

Beyond direct bill relief, the program includes significant local investment commitments. Meta has pledged $120 million to Entergy’s bill assistance program and $140 million for energy efficiency, while Google has established a $25 million energy impact fund in Arkansas. Entergy estimates that the Fair Share Plus pledge will deliver approximately $7 billion in total value to 2.3 million customers across the tri-state area over the next two decades. These agreements, overseen by state public service commissions, are intended to maintain rate affordability while the utility replaces aging power plants and strengthens grid resilience against severe weather.
