Integration of the threat-sharing tool begins within the next two weeks, with major exchanges Foxbit and Mercado Bitcoin participating in the initial phase. The system functions by distributing alerts across the financial network, ensuring that suspicious activity detected at one institution is immediately visible to others that might encounter the funds. This project gained significant momentum after the 2025 breach of C&M Software, where attackers siphoned up to $180 million from reserve accounts and laundered portions through crypto platforms.

Brazil Central Bank Launches Crypto Threat Alert System
Following a $180 million cyberattack that saw illicit funds funneled into digital assets, Brazil’s central bank is rolling out a real-time monitoring system. Developed with security firm Hypernative, the platform connects domestic banks and cryptocurrency exchanges to track stolen capital as it traverses the financial system.

Regina Pedroso of the Brazilian Tokenization Association confirmed that while testing is complete, the current focus is on adapting internal systems to receive and act on these warnings. Beyond real-time alerts, the central bank is also imposing a 24-hour preventive hold on crypto transfers exceeding $10,000 starting in January 2027. These measures aim to curb the velocity of money laundering, forcing providers to conduct risk checks before assets leave their platforms for foreign exchanges or self-custody wallets. The broader regulatory framework, which includes daily proof of asset sufficiency and stricter licensing requirements, moves crypto firms toward the same oversight standards currently applied to traditional securities brokers.
