The trouble began on August 29 when the @realtrumpcoins1 X account and the associated RealTrumpCoins.com website began advertising the GOLD token. The promotion pushed the token’s market capitalization to a peak of $66 million. Shortly thereafter, a cluster of wallets offloaded 82.45% of the total supply, dumping 824.54 million tokens into the market. Onchain analysts at EmberCN estimated these sales netted the operators roughly 9,784.6 SOL, worth approximately $1.01 million at the time of the transaction.
Following the wipeout, the company issued a statement denying any involvement and declaring it would never authorize a digital token. Despite the denial, the firm has yet to explain how outside actors gained simultaneous control over its X account and web infrastructure. While the company claims to be working with authorities to investigate the breach, no law enforcement agency has confirmed an active case or identified the individuals behind the wallet addresses.
