Unlike traditional clinical snapshots that provide only periodic data, this system tracks a cat’s routine continuously without disruption. The monitor can distinguish between multiple cats in a single household and report trends via a mobile application. Ragen McGowan, a researcher at Nestlé Purina, notes that because kidney disease symptoms often emerge gradually, owners frequently miss the initial signs. While this technology provides objective, day-to-day insights, experts emphasize that it serves as a tool to prompt earlier veterinary consultations rather than a standalone diagnostic device.
