The event invites members, non-members, and local emergency personnel to complete 2,071 steps, a symbolic distance representing the floors climbed by responders during the tragedy. After finishing the circuit, participants can document their contribution, creating a shared record of remembrance. CEO Tony Scrimale noted that the initiative aims to ensure the courage shown by those who answered the call remains a central part of the community’s collective memory.

Beyond the gym floor, staff from CR Fitness are visiting local fire stations in the days leading up to the anniversary. These visits include delivering refreshments and tokens of gratitude to active-duty personnel. The challenge is available at all CR Fitness branches across Florida, Texas, Georgia, North Carolina, and Tennessee, reflecting the franchise's ongoing expansion as it moves toward operating 110 locations nationwide by the end of 2026.
