The new wallet, which will serve as the default interface for asset management within the app, allows users to retain direct control over their holdings rather than relying on a centralized provider. It supports fee-free transfers and includes native functionality for Telegram Collectibles, such as digital usernames and phone numbers. As part of this transition, the existing 'Wallet' service has been rebranded to 'Walt' and will shift its focus toward investment, multichain services, and perpetual trading.

GRAM rallies as Telegram rolls out self-custodial wallet
Telegram has begun a phased rollout of its new self-custodial Gram Wallet, triggering a 137% surge in trading volume and pushing the GRAM token toward $1.40. CEO Pavel Durov confirmed the wallet will eventually integrate into the messaging platform for its more than one billion active monthly users.

Market reaction to the announcement saw GRAM climb roughly 2% over 24 hours, briefly testing resistance near $1.46 before pulling back. Technical indicators suggest the $1.39 to $1.40 range currently serves as a critical barrier for the asset. This latest development follows the June rebranding of Toncoin to Gram, a move approved by a community vote to align the network with the naming conventions of Telegram’s original 2018 blockchain project. While the current network emerged from independent development following a 2020 settlement with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the integration of Gram Wallet marks a major step in Telegram's push to embed financial services directly into its communication ecosystem.
