Hondros College of Nursing Joins American Public University System

Operating across eight campuses, the college has spent two decades training licensed practical and registered nurses through a laddered education model. Now functioning as an academic unit under the American Public University System, students gain a direct pipeline to bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programs previously less accessible within their existing framework. This organizational shift brings Hondros into a portfolio that includes Rasmussen University and the American Military University.

Interim President David Kramer described the transition as a new chapter for professional growth, emphasizing that the change aligns with the college’s long-standing focus on career-ready training. The parent organization, American Public Education, Inc., oversees the system, which currently serves approximately 109,000 students globally. While the accreditation status changes, the college maintains its focus on regional healthcare workforce development and local community partnerships.
