DHS Voter Fraud 'Blitz' Sparks Fears of Election Interference

The effort, internally titled the Unlawful Voter Initiative, involves federal agents cross-referencing voter data using dates of birth and partial Social Security numbers. Documents indicate that investigators are accessing public-facing state websites to verify individual registrations, a practice raising significant privacy concerns. While the administration maintains the program ensures election integrity, officials are being pulled from high-priority assignments, including counter-terrorism and human trafficking investigations.

Legislators and policy experts argue the operation targets a largely nonexistent problem. Rep. James Walkinshaw noted that even data from the conservative Heritage Foundation shows noncitizen voting is statistically negligible. Meanwhile, the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights has launched a lawsuit against the department, alleging the government is illegally targeting naturalized citizens.
