Multicoin Capital cofounder Kyle Samani joins Backpack US board

The move aims to bridge the gap between traditional equity trading and blockchain-based infrastructure as the firm scales its global operations.

Samani, an early Solana investor and architect of Multicoin’s venture strategy, transitioned from day-to-day management at his firm in February 2026. He retains an advisory role at Multicoin and chairs Forward Industries, a public company currently executing a Solana-focused treasury strategy. Backpack CEO Armani Ferrante stated that Samani’s expertise in decentralized networks and regulatory navigation makes him a key addition as the company seeks to integrate conventional securities with onchain asset distribution.

The appointment bolsters a governance team that already includes former acting SEC chairman Michael Piwowar. While Backpack claims to process over $450 billion in volume across 150 countries, the firm remains relatively opaque regarding its U.S. regulatory standing. The company has not yet provided specific details on the licensing, custody structures, or execution venues for its recently launched equity trading products, which include offerings linked to SpaceX, Micron, and SK Hynix. As competition intensifies among platforms like Kraken to offer tokenized stock exposure, Samani’s presence provides Backpack with a strategic link to the Solana ecosystem and institutional capital markets.
