U.S. Federal Agents Seize $560K in Hamas-Linked Cryptocurrency

Between March 2025 and August 2026, authorities secured five federal warrants to intercept funds and seize servers. According to the Department of Justice, the fundraising operation relied on rotating cryptocurrency addresses distributed via encrypted group chats and websites to evade detection. While the public nature of blockchain ledgers allowed investigators to trace these transfers, the use of shifting wallets was designed to obscure the final destination of the assets.

Beyond the financial seizures, the FBI gained control over domains and servers, including the Al Qassam Brigades’ primary website, Alqassam.ps. This takeover provided agents with access to communications from thousands of individuals who had contacted the platforms to offer financial support. The DOJ noted that these actions are based on warrant affidavits and do not currently represent criminal convictions against the individuals linked to the seized accounts.

Financial tracking combined blockchain forensic analysis with intelligence from human sources. By monitoring transfers through exchanges and brokers, investigators identified a network that had moved more than $1.5 million since October 2024. While the government has successfully frozen the $560,000, final forfeiture—the legal process to permanently transfer ownership to the state—remains pending. The investigation continues, with officials utilizing data from the seized servers to map further connections within the group's global financing apparatus.
