Florida Climate Week Returns With 130 Events Focused on Local Resilience
More than 130 free workshops, panel discussions, and hands-on activities will span the state from October 5–11, marking the sixth iteration of Florida Climate Week. Organized by the VoLo Foundation, the initiative connects residents with scientists and local government officials to address regional environmental challenges through accessible, community-based programming.
Institutional support for the week includes partnerships with Florida Gulf Coast University and municipal governments in Jacksonville, Orlando, St. Petersburg, and Fort Lauderdale. Thais Lopez Vogel, co-founder of the VoLo Foundation, noted that the initiative aims to make climate adaptation tangible by highlighting specific efforts within individual neighborhoods and campuses. Jacksonville’s sustainability manager, Ashantae Green, emphasized that the city is hosting over 25 individual events to demonstrate the role of residents in environmental stewardship. All programs are open to the public, with registration now available via the official Florida Climate Week portal.
