YZi Labs, which manages over $10 billion, has pivoted its focus beyond traditional Web3 ventures toward artificial intelligence, robotics, and institutional finance. Recent capital injections include leading a $52 million round for robotics firm RoboForce and an $8 million pre-seed round for the AI-payment protocol AEON. Other portfolio additions include the fixed-rate lending platform TermMax and a follow-on investment in the prediction market Predict.fun.

CZ bets on crypto winter investments to drive future gains
Binance founder Changpeng Zhao claims that capital deployed by YZi Labs during the recent market downturn will likely yield the firm’s strongest long-term returns. While the prediction relies on the logic of buying at lower valuations, the private nature of these assets leaves the actual performance metrics entirely unverified.

Zhao’s optimism hinges on the timing of these deals, executed while Bitcoin and broader digital asset valuations faced significant pressure. However, evaluating this strategy remains difficult. Unlike the firm’s stake in the publicly traded custodian BitGo, most of these holdings are private equity or token-based assets. Neither YZi Labs nor Zhao has disclosed entry valuations, equity stakes, or audited return data to substantiate the forecast. Ultimately, the success of these bets depends on whether companies like RoboForce can convert their current prospective demand—such as the 11,000 robots currently under letters of intent—into actual commercial revenue.
