The board’s decision follows the successful operational decoupling of the automotive arm, which has been functioning as a standalone entity within the group. By creating two independent companies, leadership aims to sharpen strategic focus and allow for more precise capital allocation tailored to the distinct market demands of each business model. Hans Stråberg, Chair of the SKF Board, described the move as a milestone intended to unlock long-term value for employees and investors alike.

SKF Sets December Date for Automotive Business Spinoff
Shareholders of AB SKF will gather on 1 October 2026 to vote on the formal distribution and stock market listing of its automotive division, SKF Vertevo. If approved, the company expects to begin trading on Nasdaq Stockholm on 1 December 2026, marking the final stage of the business unit's separation.

Governance changes are already underway to facilitate the transition. Håkan Buskhe has been named Chair of the Board for SKF Vertevo, leading a team that includes Therese Friberg, Hock Goh, Philip Ahlgren, Jumana Al-Sibai, Ebba Bonde, Maria Hemberg, and Kerstin Enochsson. In tandem with these appointments, Friberg and Goh will step down from their roles on the AB SKF board. The distribution of shares is structured to satisfy Swedish Lex Asea tax regulations, ensuring the process remains tax-neutral for eligible Swedish residents.
