Rackspace Investors Face September Deadline After AI Strategy Backfires

A 33.6% stock plunge has triggered a federal securities class action lawsuit against Rackspace Technology, Inc. The complaint, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, alleges the cloud provider misled shareholders regarding the financial impact of its aggressive pivot toward artificial intelligence infrastructure.

Rackspace Investors Face September Deadline After AI Strategy Backfires

The lawsuit, captioned Morgan-Reed v. Rackspace Technology, Inc., claims that while executives touted a high-profile memorandum of understanding with Advanced Micro Devices to bolster AI capabilities, they withheld the true cost of this transition. Investors allege the company failed to disclose that its AI initiatives required a significant re-prioritization of resources, ultimately cannibalizing capacity from existing revenue-generating segments.

The market reaction on July 9, 2026, was swift and severe. Following the company's admission that it would cut its full-year revenue guidance by $150 million and its Private Cloud revenue outlook by $25 million, shares tumbled from $6.58 to $4.37. Bleichmar Fonti & Auld LLP, the firm representing the plaintiffs, has set a September 28, 2026, deadline for investors to petition the court for lead plaintiff status in the ongoing securities fraud case.
