At his new firm, Gerber will focus on mediation, arbitration, and consulting for complex restructuring and corporate governance disputes. His appointment reunites him with co-founding partners Jeffrey H. Zaiger and Douglas J. Pepe, with whom he previously worked at the firm Joseph Hage Aaronson. Gerber, who will be based in the firm’s Stamford, Connecticut office, intends to leverage his history in high-stakes litigation to advise clients on intricate insolvency matters.

During his tenure on the bench, which began in 2000, Gerber oversaw landmark Chapter 11 proceedings including General Motors, Lyondell Chemical, and Global Crossing. His career features a track record of handling ten cases involving more than $1 billion in debt, resulting in approximately 200 published opinions on bankruptcy law. Beyond his practice, Gerber maintains his role as an Adjunct Professor at Columbia Law School and remains a contributing author to Collier on Bankruptcy.
