Express Employment Spotlights Temporary Workforce During National Week

With 9.5 million temporary and contract workers fueling the U.S. economy in 2025, the staffing industry serves as a vital bridge between fluctuating business demands and job seekers. Express Employment Professionals is marking National Staffing Employee Week, Sept. 14-20, to honor the contributors who keep domestic operations running.

Express Employment Spotlights Temporary Workforce During National Week

For many, temporary assignments act as a professional proving ground. These roles allow workers to gain experience and demonstrate their capabilities directly to employers, often serving as a direct pipeline to permanent positions. Bob Funk Jr., CEO of Express Employment International, emphasizes that these individuals form the backbone of the industry, providing essential skills that allow companies to maintain productivity despite shifting market needs.

This year, the spotlight shines on Dillon Carlson, a worker out of the Littleton, Colorado, office. Carlson, who spent over six months searching for work before connecting with Express in 2024, has been named one of eight finalists for the 2027 National Staffing Employee of the Year awards. After securing a placement with a longtime client, he successfully transitioned into a permanent role. The American Staffing Association coordinates this annual recognition to highlight how flexible staffing arrangements facilitate career growth, help workers enter new fields, and provide a necessary cushion for those navigating the modern labor market.
