Volvo Trucks Electric Range Named International Truck of the Year 2027
A jury of 24 commercial vehicle journalists has crowned Volvo Trucks’ heavy-duty electric lineup as the International Truck of the Year 2027. The award, presented at the IAA Transportation event in Hanover, marks the eighth time the manufacturer has secured the industry’s most prestigious title for its vehicle innovation.
Florian Engel, Chairman of the International Truck of the Year jury, noted that the evolution of Volvo’s battery-electric technology is rapidly reshaping heavy-duty transport. Accepting the trophy, Volvo Trucks President Roger Alm highlighted that the company's order books are nearly full, signaling strong market confidence in zero-tailpipe emission logistics. Since 2019, Volvo has deployed 7,000 electric trucks globally, covering 500 million kilometers across 50 countries. The award criteria focused on technological innovation, safety, and the total cost of ownership, reinforcing Volvo's position as a leader in the shift toward sustainable heavy transport.
