Mission Foods Expands Better for You Line with Protein and Grain-Free Chips

Irving-based Mission Foods is pushing into the health-conscious snack market with four new tortilla-style chip varieties. The expansion targets consumers seeking specific nutritional gains, balancing 10 grams of plant-based protein in one line with high-fiber, cassava-based ingredients in another, as the company looks to capture the growing demand for functional snacking.

The new Protein Tortilla Style Chips arrive in Chile Limón and Jalapeño flavors, positioning themselves as a gluten-free and vegan option for those tracking protein intake. Meanwhile, the Grain Free line utilizes a base of cassava flour, whole chia seeds, and avocado oil. Available in Sea Salt and Hint of Lime, these chips cater to shoppers prioritizing simpler, non-GMO ingredient lists while maintaining a focus on fiber content.

Sathish Mohanraju, VP of Sales and Marketing, noted that the product development was driven by consumer feedback regarding dietary goals. By integrating these snacks into the mainstream aisle, the company aims to bridge the gap between traditional cravings and lifestyle-specific nutrition. The products are currently hitting shelves at Kroger locations nationwide, with a broader retail rollout scheduled throughout the fall.
