Launched September 15, the updated edition of Benz’s work explores modern healthcare challenges, ranging from the integration of artificial intelligence to the pervasive issue of provider burnout. Benz, the CEO of Dental Care Alliance and founder of Confluent Health, intends to distribute copies of the book to scholars attending the North Star Summit in Phoenix this October, where he is scheduled to deliver the keynote address.

Dr. Larry Benz Donates Book Proceeds to Rizing Tide Scholarships
Every cent earned from the second edition of Dr. Larry Benz’s book, "Called to Care: A Medical Provider’s Guide for Humanizing Healthcare," will fund scholarships for physical therapy students from underrepresented backgrounds, as the author deepens his partnership with the foundation Rizing Tide.

Beyond the book royalties, Benz has actively contributed to the foundation by volunteering as a scholarship screener and funding a $10,000 Surge Scholarship. Dr. Heidi Jannenga, founder of Rizing Tide, noted that his involvement extends past financial support into direct mentorship. The foundation, established in 2020, has committed $2.5 million to date to address the diversity gap within the physical therapy profession. Eligible candidates have until October 6, 2026, to apply for the current round of Surge Scholarships, which support physical therapists entering residency programs.
