The new hardware represents a pivot toward convenience for the Westlake Village-based company. By pressing the power button, owners can cycle through five distinct temperature presets ranging from 125 to 145 degrees Fahrenheit. This physical interface syncs automatically with the companion app, bridging the gap between analog control and digital tracking. Beyond the interface, the company has overhauled its manufacturing process to ensure the unit is top-rack dishwasher-safe—a significant departure from the hand-wash-only requirements of previous models. The stainless steel construction remains, paired with an FDA-compliant, ceramic-reinforced coating.

Ember Unveils Third-Generation Smart Mug with On-Board Controls
Five years after establishing its foothold in the smart drinkware market, Ember Technologies is rolling out the Mug 3. The latest iteration of the flagship device finally ditches the exclusive reliance on smartphone connectivity, allowing users to adjust heat settings directly via physical buttons integrated into the mug's base.

Battery performance also receives a boost through the inclusion of a standard sliding lid, which helps retain heat and prevents spills, extending the device’s runtime to three hours on a single charge. The product launches in two sizes: a 10-ounce version priced at $129 and a 14-ounce variant at $149. While the smaller model comes in black, white, and stainless steel, the larger unit offers an expanded palette of eight colors, including sage green and matcha. Following the direct-to-consumer launch on the company's website, the mugs will hit Target shelves on September 27, with an Amazon release scheduled for October.
