Rob Luce has joined the Detroit Regional Partnership as Senior Vice President of Strategic Funding and Investor Relations, a newly created position tasked with diversifying the capital base for an 11-county economic development mission that has already secured $10.8 billion in regional investment over the past six years.
Luce moves into this role as the Partnership shifts its focus beyond traditional business attraction toward broader community readiness and regional competitiveness. His objective involves building the financial infrastructure required to sustain growth initiatives across Southeast Michigan, bridging the gap between corporate, public-sector, and philanthropic partners.
Justin Robinson, President and CEO of the Partnership, noted that the organization’s previous success—which includes the creation of 42,000 new jobs—requires a more sophisticated resource model to remain competitive. Robinson pointed to Luce’s dual background in closing economic deals and managing large-scale coalitions as the primary driver for his appointment.
Before joining the Partnership, Luce served as Vice President of the SME Education Foundation. His resume also includes leadership roles at the Detroit Region Aerotropolis Development Corporation and MichAuto, providing him with a deep history in the regional automotive and business retention sectors. Luce emphasized that the next phase of the organization’s work relies on moving beyond isolated efforts to create a unified investment front, stating that his goal is to align the region’s available resources with its long-term potential.
