Resideo Launches Redesigned First Alert Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarms

Scottsdale-based Resideo Technologies is rolling out a new generation of First Alert smoke and carbon monoxide detectors designed to curb common maintenance frustrations. The updated lineup introduces features like the SoftCue Replacement Reminder, aiming to eliminate the disruptive late-night chirping often associated with aging residential safety devices.

The new models incorporate several hardware refinements intended to simplify the user experience. A significantly larger, centrally located test-and-silence button provides easier access, while a side-load battery drawer removes the need to detach the unit from the ceiling for power changes. Installation is further streamlined through a standardized bracket system and an optional mounting plate that masks previous ceiling marks.

Beyond maintenance, the hardware leverages Precision Detection technology to distinguish between genuine fire hazards and common kitchen steam or smoke. These units, which comply with the latest Underwriter Laboratories standards, are currently available at Lowe’s locations in the United States starting at $29.99. To support the launch, Lowe’s stores will host community fire safety events on October 17, featuring local first responders and educational activities.
