Kochi-Based EyeROV Presents Underwater Robotics to BRICS Leaders

Under the hum of the Bharat Innovates Exposition in New Delhi, the gaze of global leaders shifted toward the seabed. As part of the BRICS Summit, Kochi-based deep-tech startup EyeROV demonstrated its fleet of underwater drones to a delegation including Narendra Modi, Vladimir Putin, and Xi Jinping.

Kochi-Based EyeROV Presents Underwater Robotics to BRICS Leaders

The exhibition showcased the company's indigenous Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs), designed to navigate the high-stakes environments of dams, ports, and offshore installations. For infrastructure operators, these machines offer a critical alternative to human divers, automating the inspection of submerged structures while gathering precise maintenance data. CEO Johns T Mathai guided the visiting heads of state through the firm’s technical capabilities, which now include Autonomous Underwater Vehicles, Unmanned Surface Vehicles, and AI-integrated analytics.

For the Kochi-headquartered firm, the summit appearance serves as a high-profile validation of its efforts to scale domestic engineering for international maritime security and defense sectors. Mathai noted that the interaction marks a turning point for Indian deep-tech, signaling a shift from local development to global market participation. By focusing on the practical challenges of subsea maintenance, EyeROV aims to pivot its "Make in India" roots into a broader, world-class footprint in marine robotics.
