The deal positions Bryden Wood to scale its integrated approach to industrial design, which emphasizes standardized systems and off-site manufacturing. By moving away from traditional, bespoke construction, the firm helps clients in the pharmaceutical, data center, and low-carbon sectors reduce capital costs and shorten project timelines. These efficiencies have already been applied to Ara-backed ventures, including Sedron, Divert, and GIDARA Energy.

Ara Partners Acquires Majority Stake in Engineering Firm Bryden Wood
Private equity firm Ara Partners has secured a majority interest in London-based consultancy Bryden Wood, aiming to accelerate the deployment of decarbonization technologies. The acquisition formalizes a multi-year partnership where the engineering firm provided strategic design support for several of Ara’s existing industrial portfolio companies.

For Ara Partners, which manages approximately $8.2 billion in assets, the move secures internal access to engineering expertise critical for scaling industrial projects. Martin Wood, co-founder of the 300-person consultancy, noted that the partnership provides the necessary capital and reach to apply their design methodology to a broader set of global industrial assets. Charles Cherington, managing partner at Ara, stated that the firm’s ability to turn complex technologies into repeatable, buildable assets was the primary driver for the acquisition.
