World Launches Financial Super App Across 150 Countries

World debuted its self-custody financial application, World Money, on September 17, providing users across more than 150 countries with a suite of tools including stablecoin balances, digital asset trading, and yield-generating programs. The launch marks a shift in the project’s infrastructure, decoupling financial services from its primary identity verification platform.

The new application integrates diverse financial technologies, leveraging Stripe to facilitate U.S. funding flows via Apple Pay and employing Morpho for on-chain lending programs. While the platform offers cross-border transfers and virtual accounts, World emphasizes that availability remains highly dependent on local regulations and regional partnerships. For instance, virtual account services in the U.S. are supported by Lead Bank and Bridge, whereas Ripio manages similar functions in Argentina, Colombia, and Mexico.

Users can access a range of digital assets including WLD, wrapped Bitcoin, and wrapped Ether. The app also features Mini Apps from partners like Kalshi. Despite the expanded reach, the company clarified that these financial products are not bank deposits and carry inherent risks, including potential smart contract failures and liquidity fluctuations. To distinguish its core operations, World has transitioned identity verification to a separate application, though existing users can maintain their status across both platforms. Verification through the project’s Orb remains a gateway for promotional rewards within the Earn section, though principal is not guaranteed.
